    Vata Skin: Air, Ether Energy

    Well dear Vata friends, we have some good news, and we have some…well… not-so-good news.

    Good news: Vata skin has a tendency to be delicate and thin with smaller pores. What’s known as Porcelain skin.

    Not-so-good news: If you have Vata skin and want to continue to keep it naturally healthy in your autumnal years, you’ll have to start protecting it from a young age due to your natural tendency to be dry and dehydrated.

    As a Vata, you’ll tend to have a slightly darker complexion than your Pitta and/or Kapha siblings. This is because the dehydration in your skin will continue to hold less moisture and the skin itself will begin to darken. When Vata energy is imbalanced, your skin may appear dry and dull with fine and/or deep lines. These imbalances can also show up as tiny milia on the forehead, which is the Vata zone on our faces. Internally, Vata governs the nervous system, so if nervous disorders or physical shaking appear it is indicative of an imbalance, whether Vata is your dominant Doshas or not.

    There are some simple ways to balance your dosha, nourish your body and mind, and hydrate your skin without doing a complete overhaul on your daily life!

    Drink warm fluids such as water, herbal teas, or soup broth.
    Eat foods that are naturally sweet like squash, yams, dairy, grains, melons, and maple syrup. 

    Eat nourishing and lubricating foods like red meat and healthy oils.
     
    Oil your head, hands and feet in the cold seasons – our Ultra Nourishing Body Oil is ideal.
