• The First Step To More Youthful Looking Skin? Recognize The Signs Of Aging

The new year is a time for resolutions. Common resolutions include improving health and personal appearance. Those of us over 40 can choose to celebrate aging by foregoing stereotypes, and redefine it with health, character, and individuality. The first step in achieving beautiful skin is to recognize the visible signs of again, and then decide how you want to prevent or reverse those signs.

First Signs of Aging: Fine Lines, Redness, Pigmentation, Enlarged Pores

Lifelong beautiful skin is earned with consistent maintenance. Beautiful healthy skin is hydrated skin. The causes of the above signs of aging are in the epidermis, which is the superficial layer of the skin. Start with a good skincare routine that protects your skin from assault from the environment and keeps it hydrated.

Cleanse gently with a cleansing milk so you do not irritate or dry out your skin. For simplicity get one you can rinse off so that you can eliminate the make up remover and the toner.

Hydrate your skin with a serum. It will give your skin a smoother appearance. Your skin cells contain saline water and protein, so look for seaweed, collagen, elastin and whey protein in your serum. Other hydrating ingredients in your skin included hyaluronic acid and ceramide.

Since your own skin cells are cushioned with intracellular fluids, I usually recommend a face oil. For mature skin, rich nourishing oils like avocado, baobab, argan and neroli are ideal.

Lastly, protect your plump dewy skin with a moisturizer with the above-mentioned oils and protective waxes like shea butter and mango butter.

Second Signs of Aging: Deep Wrinkles and Hyperpigmentation

When the epidermis doesn’t protect the dermis, Collagen and Elastin production is downgraded causing fine lines to become deeper, pigmentation becomes more stubborn, pores become larger and our skin looks duller and textured. To reduce any of the above signs, one needs the help of Deep Peels with Alpha Hydroxy Acids (AHA), and Microdermabrasion.

For sensitive skin types Microdermabrasion with Salt or Water is an excellent way to stimulate circulation and increase your natural collagen production. Sea salt is a healthier exfoliant with purifying and hydrating properties, while Saline water is a gentler exfoliation with cooling and hydrating benefits.

For more dramatic improvement, Intense Pulse Light (IPL) can help smooth lines and texture and Radio Frequency can help tighten skin and lift skin tone. A gentler option to rejuvenate aging skin is LED Light. The Red LED can rejuvenate skin cells and heal skin sensitivity after anti-aging treatments like Deep Peels and Intense Pulse Light.

Third Signs of Skin Aging : Loss of Tone / Sagging Skin

"Redundant Skin” due to thinning of skin and bone loss requires the help of a plastic surgeon.
